Olivia's Road to 2015 Nationals

Donation protected
Ever since I can remember, I have always had a dream of becoming a successful figure skater and competing at the Nationals as well as representing the United States of America internationally.  I began skating when I was 3 years old and by age 7 I was in love with the sport.  My dedicated mother would wake up every morning at 4:00 am and drive me to a rink far from my home in Buffalo Grove so that I could train with the best coaches before school and again after school.  On the weekends she drove me to Wisconsin to train and with the instruction of incredible coaches, I accomplished sucess at the Juvenile and Intermediate levels.  The past few years have presented me with back and growth issues.  In the midst of such a challenging and sad time for me, I believe my Grandmother was sending me guidance and help from up above.  In September 2013, I was presented with a wonderful opportunity to skate pairs with an awesome talented partner from the state of Washington, Austin Hale.

In January 2014, I moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana so that I can train full time as a pairs skater and reach my dreams.  I very much miss my Elmhurst friends and all the teachers that supported me early on.  Teachers from Field Elementary School and Sandburg Middle School were behind me 100% and believed in me.  I will be forever grateful for their support and giving me the opportunity to accomplish the academic honors and success as a figure skater.

Since I have moved to Fort Wayne,  there has been much more training for me.  I had to ramp up and learn pairs elements quickly.  There were many tests to pass along the way which would allow the team to compete at the Junior level.   I am very grateful for all the for enless hours our coaches have dedicated to me and Austin.  The incredible amount of effort and time to develop our skills in such a short amount of time awarded us a spot on Team USA  after only 7 months of training together.  In October we competed inTallinn, Estonia and in October, Zagreb, Croatia.   What an incredible experience for us and the goal is now to compete in the 2018 Olympic Winter Olympics in PyeonChang, South Korea.

The expenses involved to train as a world class athlete include many hours of off ice and on ice training, ballet, choreographers, personal trainers, costumes, equipment, traveling as well as living away from home expenses.  This has been a difficult task for my mother but somehow she manages to make things happen for me and I no words can thank her enough.

I am raising money to help fund my trip to the U.S. Prudential National Championships in North Carolina on January 17 - 25, 2015.    My successful year has rewarded me with competing at Nationals and your donation would help me very much.

I am truly humbled and touched by your support for my goals and dreams.

Sincerely,
Olivia Allan
