help Israel to complete his University Education

Hi, my name is Israel Anietie Akpan. I was born in Nigeria, and I moved to Canada 8years ago as an international student to study Engineering physics at Simon Fraser University (SFU). I am now at a critical point and I need financial aid to reach the finish line of my education. Here is my story:

I moved to Canada when I was 17 years old. My dream was to graduate 5years later with an Honours degree in Engineering physics. After excellent performance in my first two years, I fell hard. I fell prey to pleasures around me that I thought I was immune to -- I started indulging in marijuana, sexuality, and video games. First recreationally, and before I knew it, was held captive by them. I found myself slowly loosing interest in classes and instead chasing after the pleasures I had tasted of. When the pandemic set in, I was particularly vulnerable because my focus on school had already started fading away. The lockdown, increased privacy and lower accountability exasperated these challenges, and I died! I could not snap out of my waywardness.

For the first time in my life, I lost my strength and passion for my future. I got transferred out of the Engineering physics program to General Studies in Applied Science. It was hard to talk about what I was going through because I was ashamed and guilty of much money and time that was passing away, and of my current state at that time. My family was in Nigeria through all this, and it was really difficult telling them about my struggles in Canada.

About 2 years ago, I couldn't handle it anymore -- I took a break from school and confessed to my parents. It was a difficult decision, but the right one. They supported me through that rough time and dedicated to push me as far with all they had. I too have fought on for my academics through the hope and encouragement that my Father gives me every day. This is the fight of my dreams and for my life in Canada. We have now run out of financial capacity to sustain the mission. My parents are now in debt, as I am also. We now need emergency financial intervention to complete my University degree, now in General Studies.

My exact financial situation is this:

Any received funds will be used to pay off tuition fees. My plan is to graduate from University and work. My hope is that in due time, after I am financially independent, to come back and complete my degree in Engineering physics, or simply proceed towards a master's program in a physics-related field.

This is my situation, and I need you. Please help.
