Ismael Animal Rescue Project

Ismael Animal Rescue Tanzania was born in September 2016 out of Ismael Mungaya's love for animals and witnessing the sad situation of abused and neglected street dogs in the area. Ismael found a way to build a small shelter on his family plot dedicating his time to do whatever he could to improve the lives of street dogs in Mianzini, Arusha, Tanzania.

Dogs that Ismael finds and those whom are surrendered to him are cared for by any means necessary, working  closely with local trusted Vets to ensure all dogs are:
 - brought up to good health and weight
 - vaccinated and wormed
 - spayed or neutered
 - treated for any diseases or injuries

The ultimate aim of course is to find a warm loving home for each of them alongside providing education to the community on the benefits of having a dog in your life.

In Tanzania dogs are not seen in the same way as in Australia or Europe.  Dogs may be viewed as security so many people are afraid of them or they may be viewed simply as pests. This is simply due to several factors such as a lack of education and learnt beliefs but also because many live in poverty it is understandable that they need to find their own source of food and healthcare before attending to an animal's needs.

We hope to raise enough funds to secure a small plot and build a proper concrete, waterproof shelter for the dogs so that Ismael and volunteers can continue to help even more of the dogs in need. Unfortunately there is no RSPCA, AWL or the likes in Arusha, Tanzania so we need your support to make this happen.
