For those of you who know Dave and Kathy, you know they are some of the best people out there.
Well known in the Motorcycle community as well as half of Anchorage, Dave is always the first one to give a hand or give advice. He never asks or expects anything in return.
Earlier this year, Dave was in a terrible accident. He laid down his motorcycle and destroyed his leg. Thru several surgeries, they tried saving his leg. He spent months trying to recover from that surgery and several more , only to have to have a below the knee amputation. I saw Dave only one week after having the procedure done and he was happier than I'd seen him in months, and in alot better spirits, with much less pain and a positive outlook of getting on with his life, and still trying to give me advice!
Trying to get thru his first surgeries, Dave lost a tremedous amount of time from work and so did his wife. They have had to sell many of their personal items, in order to keep themselves above water and keep their home. With nothing left to sell, it wont be long before they wont even have a home.
Even job security is always on his mind, as he can only work limited hours due to trying to work at his place of employment with a wheelchair.
He was told he could have a prosthetic by year end.....only to recently find out that insurance wont cover it. Even with this terrible news, Dave is still out there, doing all he can for his family and friends.
Lets give back! In the spirit of the Holiday Season and paying it forward to someone who really deserves this, lets see what we can do to get him walking/riding again!
