Isabella goes to Uganda

Hello, family and friends,
This summer I have the opportunity to go to Jinja, Uganda, to work as an intern with Healing Faith Ministries. Healing Faith was founded by Kari and Jason Segner, whom I’ve known my entire life. My mom and Aunt Kari met on a mission trip to Africa when they were 14 and 15 years old. They have been best friends ever since. When Aunt Kari went to Africa for the first time, she knew that was where the Lord wanted her to serve. Almost twenty years later, she and her husband sold all their belongings and moved themselves and their four kids to Jinja, Uganda. All they had was their faith that God wouldn’t fail them, since then Healing Faith has grown into something great.
Malaria is a leading cause of death for children in Uganda and the number one cause of sickness for all Ugandans. More than 40 children die each day from the disease, which costs less than a dollar to treat. Healing Faith has an important malaria center in Uganda near Lake Victoria where the mosquito population is high and potent. They test for and treat cases of malaria. The ministry also does village outreach by following up with patients who were severely ill, giving malaria-prevention education, teaching families how to hang nets effectively, and praying with the families.
I would love to go to Uganda for many reasons. Of course, getting to live and work with Aunt Kari and Uncle Jason, Karson, Everett, Hadlee, Pierce, and Joseph will be a treat because I love them so much. I will also be spreading the Gospel, reaching into other people’s lives by serving them and growing closer to God as I learn to trust Him more. I will be handing out mosquito nets, doing village outreach, and am hoping to lead a Bible study for children. I will also be helping administratively and learning how to do paperwork for overseas ministries.
This truly is an amazing and rare opportunity. First and foremost, I would really appreciate your prayers. I really need prayer because I get homesick so easily. I will be seriously missing my family, especially my sister because she’s my best friend in the entire universe; the longest we’ve ever been apart is a week. I also need prayer for raising $2,500 in two months.
I really want to make a difference in people’s lives and for God to show me what He wants me to do with my own life. I also need your help financially. I know you can put money in many different places, but I would greatly appreciate any donations, no matter how small. I’m doing what I can now - working extra hours and picking up babysitting jobs - but I need your help.
