Hi Everyone,
We are a close-knit group of eight best mates who’ve known each other for over 20 years, playing footy together in Mount Isa, Queensland, and sharing life’s highs and lows. Now, we’ve come together for something bigger – to support our friend, Rebecca Johnson, and her family as they face one of life’s toughest challenges.
Bec and Shaun met in Mount Isa in 2008, got Married in 2010 and since then have gone on to have 2 beautiful daughters Mackenzie (13) and Ella (10). Unfortunately, 12 months ago, Bec was diagnosed with Stage 4 bowel cancer. As you can imagine, this has been incredibly tough on the whole family. She has recently begun her second course of chemotherapy and has undergone surgery to remove sigmoid colon.
We want to help them create some lasting, joyful memories that will last a lifetime. Our goal is to raise enough money to send them on an overseas trip to American next January, to allow them to have a break from the day-to-day battle and enjoy time together.
A portion of all funds raised will go towards the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation or Regional Cancer Centre.
The Challenge:
To show our love and support, we’re pushing ourselves to the limit. Each of us has taken on a personal challenge that’s going to test us mentally and physically.
Here’s a list of challenges we have agreed upon, by the end date of January 4, 2025:
• 3 marathons will be run (42 km) in different locations
• Cycling 100 km
• Mow as many lawns as possible in 1 day.
• Weight loss challenges
• 5km pool swim.
How You Can Help:
Please donate whatever you can to assist us in reaching our fundraising goal of $20,000.00 AUD. If you can’t donate, we’d love if you could share this page with your friends and family. The more people who know, the better!
We’re also documenting our journey – from training for these crazy challenges to completing them on the big day – and we’ll be sharing updates here and on our social media accounts. Follow along, cheer us on, and most importantly, support Bec and her family through this difficult time.
You can follow Bec’s journey here
Thank You.
