Irene - wife, mother of 3, fighting cancer

Donation protected
This is my niece Irene and her lovely family.
Dear husband Isaac; handsome and compassionate son Brian, 14 (who is now 18); smart and energetic daughter Chloe, 4 (who is now 9) and sweet little miracle Duane, 6 months (who is now 5). (Ages updated Dec 2020).

Please help as you can. Every cent is going to a wonderfully loving family!

Here's a brief history of their lives in a quick snapshot of just 1 year.
Irene found out she had cancer. She began treatment only to find out that her morning sickness and general malaise were also the effect of a surprise pregnancy. So her treatment for cancer was immediately halted to allow the growth of her baby. Many difficult medical issues were ahead that she could not have imagined. Bowel rupture, for which she required emergency surgery, of course. Esophageal tear, pneumonia, internal bleeds (just to name a few complications), and ultimately an emergency c-section to save her and her baby's lives as her BP dropped quickly. Praise the Lord that they were okay.
Now through all this the cancer was still present and growing in her body. She'd have to wait a period of weeks before she cold begin intensive chemotherapy treatment to irradiate the cancer.
So this young wife and mother is doing the best she can to care for her loving family with the help of her husband. He required to take some time off of work to assist with the care of the children as she remained in hospital for a lengthy portion of her pregnancy. Church members, their family and friends did help the best they could. Irene and family are very grateful for all the help along the way. Caring for her husband and children is a desire of her heart!

Now through this you'd think, "Wow, she has been through so much. How much can one person endure?"
Well, on the eve of Jan 21 (2016) they were heading home as a family from an evening out getting much needed groceries. Driving home they were involved in an automobile accident. An individual made a left turn, in front of them. They were not able to avoid the collision and the front passenger side of their vehicle sustained the impact.  But worse than that...Irene sustained the impact with extensive and severe injuries.
Her right arm was broken with the bone exposed through the skin for which she has had to have a plate surgery done to hold it, infection set in.  She is right handed. She cannot hold her baby unless someone places him in her left arm or on a bed or while she is sitting.  Her right knee has bone fragments for which she requires surgery, she has not had yet. A gash over and very near to her left eye has damaged her vision in that eye. To what extent, we don't fully know yet.
To embrace her other two children is painful but a desired need.
Her husband has received some injuries as well that cause him back pain where working is arduous without pain medication and rest.
Also Irene was booked for intestinal repair surgery but it has been postponed due to the accident and new injuries.

Truthfully, as we can imagine the bills are still there and the work for her husband to provide as well but the need for him to get well and for him to be there to assist her with the needs of the children is also VERY real.

My heart just aches for my niece and her family and the circumstances that have befallen them.

If you can help, please do. Whatever amount.
Thank you and God bless your generous spirit!

This is an update on just a few things that have happened since this fundraiser was established.
Irene's cancer has metastasized, sadly.
She is now undergoing radiation treatment for it. :( Earlier this year she found a lump on her tongue...and now also spread to her esophagus, pouch(stomach) and breast.
They are being charged $1300/treatment for the injections she needs for her tongue/mouth cancer. She goes every week for 20 weeks. My understanding is that this treatment cost is NOT covered under health insurance.

Whatever amount you can help with it is GREATLY appreciated!! Thank YOU!

All donations will be put towards her medical and travel expenses.
