Dee Savoy's Medical Fund

Donation protected
Some of you will be hearing this story for the first time and I am sorry you are hearing about it online but Jill and Dee are private people and do not like to complain.     This is a fund for my brother-in-law, Dee Savoy. Dee has been dealing with abdominal pain all summer but dealt with the pain and kept working, raising his little family. He finally could not deal with the pain and went to the ER where a CT scan showed lesions on many abdominal organs and a large mass on his spleen. It was decided by his doctor to have his spleen removed in November, where a biopsy of the spleen and surrounding tissue was sent to the MayoClinic for testing. Days later, he was readmitted with a fever and spent Thanksgiving in the hospital. The bad news came last week, the biopsy from surgery is cancerous-Peritoneal mesothelioma (http://www.mesothelioma.com/mesothelioma/types/peritoneal.htm). It is a very rare cancer affecting only 200 to 500 people in the US each year. There are only 2 specialists that deal with this cancer in our area. One at the University of MD and the other at the National Cancer Institute.
Dee and Jill are hard-working people just trying to raise three kids. Jill is still going to work and is out of paid leave and FMLA from having Ashton in February. Dee's short-term disability has not kicked in yet. Now, medical bills, co-pays, gas, and food from traveling to hospitals and doctors appointments are piling up. Plus, the course of treatment is changing to chemo and radical surgery.
