Inuvik Relief Support Fund

In this time of need, we all need to lead by example. We all need to be supportive, and help out where we can. We need to support ourselves, our families and our neighbors. We need to offer that lending hand and help our community.

This campaign was started to help balance some of that stress, that insecurity and that fear. By working together, helping out in whatever way we can, we can all get through this.

Simply put, this fundraiser was started to rally the support for this community. There are a few team members and organizers, and you all (surely by now) know Jonathon Michel. If you want to help out, FB msg either Jonathon or Mike Lee (@mickileepaul)

Everything helps, even $1 can make the difference when multiplied across a strong community.  We don't really have an idea for an 'amount' to raise or to aim for, but the goal is to raise as much as possible, from anyone that is able and willing to help out. There is no obligation, so if you can't help out, but are able to spread the word, please feel free to send out the campaign to your contacts or reach out to other donors who may be able to help. We've set the target at $10,000, but that's just a number, one that hopefully isn't too high or too low. It's the support and collaboration of this campaign that matter.

We are still in the process of fine tuning how the funds will be distributed, but trust that this is for the community by the community.  Our initial discussions focused on the best way that we can help the community. At this point in time, we are thinking of purchases gift cards that can be used for food and supplies. We are still in discussion with a few parties and organizations on how to distribute the gift cards, but there will be updates and posts in https://www.facebook.com/groups/217484259309332/ as we discuss.

Depending on the time scale of this current epidemic, any unused funds will be donated to local charities and fundraising organizations that will benefit the community.  (Inuvik Food Bank/ Inuvik Youth Centre etc.)

Thank you
