Small Bowel Transplant

This is my son David. At age 10 he was diagnosed with with a form of soft tissue cancer called Rhabdomyosarcoma. We were told his chance of survival was very low. David was referred to NIH in Bethesda MD. where he underwent Chemo , Radiation, and some experimental drugs. After 8 months of treatment he was cancer free. He is now 44 years old and has struggled his whole life with Radiation side effects. As he gets older his health is deteriorating at a much faster rate. David finally was introduced to a team of excellent Doctors at Medstar Georgetown University Transplant Hospital in Washington D.C. and they are giving him an opportunity to have a life saving Intestinal Transplant. He is also on TPN and is having complications with his kidneys and bladder. We will need to get an apartment near the hospital after surgery for monitoring and follow up visits for a few months at most. Rental costs and after care is not included in insurance.  Financially this is impossible for us to do on our own. Doctors say the surgery needs to be done NOW! Please help my son have a chance at a normal life. He loves living near the beach with his little dog and I pray he can be happy and start living life again. Any amount of donation is greatly appreciated. If you can't donate or would rather not do it through the GOFUNDME page you can send checks to our team member @ Paula Rakes 124 Guernsey Ct.
