we want to record our songs well so that you can listen to them as we had dreamed of them. our first full length analog album together will feature guitar and banjo, with both of us singing haunting melodies about caves, river beds, oaks, deep wells, fire by friction, lichen, migrations, political prisoners, and resilience. we play in the darkness and light, under the moon and stars, and by the ocean and smallest springs. “the deep well” is inspired by remembering what has been lost, and listening deeply to the land in which we live.
the origins of this music arrived to us in dreams at first and has grown into our reality with the guidance and love of our community of family, friends, and companions. we both have shared music with others through the years, burl playing in the dark earth-folk trio Gembrokers and jessie james in folk-punk Abandon Ship!, together we have created something new to us. with aspects of both bands plus intricate fingerpicking, long droney folk metal parts, glimpses of traditional tunes, and lyrical poetry inle elni is born.
we both work and do our best to support ourselves, our friends and our communities, and wouldn't be asking for your help if we could do this by ourselves. we also believe that sharing our music serves not just our own tender spirits but affects worlds we only begin to understand. this is what you are a part of. this is what you support.
