The last few years have been challenging enough with the pandemic and the ability for people to donate as much as they used to.
We are only in June with six more months until December, when our majority of funds come in to support the following year's budget.
Change in the economy should not allow for any of us to suffer. Inflation and cost are continually rising. The value of money has and is constantly decreasing rapidly.
Under My Wing’s mean of resources to care for the birds should not be a lack, receiving appropriate parrot well-being care and their imperative needs; vet care, parrot food, treats, fresh veggies, nuts, enrichment and the overall cost of the necessary to the operations of our refuge where they reside.
Since I became ill in December, we could not continue to run programs that helped support our expenses, and inflation creped in. The cost increased while the dollar value decreased drastically. Explained: the amount of donations dollar to dollar no longer holds the dollar value as we knew it, and $5 plus $5 no longer equals to $10 due to higher cost for everything.
We are experiencing over a 7% increase in our cost; this is already a huge financial setback and is placing our birds at risk. We do not have the power to make your $10, $20 $100 donation hold the same value it used to, and it is unrealistic to assume it will ever be the same as the cost to provide and care for them if financially already thru the roof and getting worse.
