Anyone who knows Ines, loves her! Ines is a wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and an amazing friend to all who know her. Sadly, on November 24, 2017 Ines suffered a stroke resulting in paralysis of her right arm, extreme weakness in her right leg, aphasia (difficulty with speaking), and some paralysis on the right side of her mouth making it difficult to eat.
Unfortunately, she does not have insurance to cover the rehabilitation that is necessary to get her back to the strong and independent woman we know and love. In order to regain functionality of her right side she will require aggressive rehabilitation therapy at an inpatient treatment center. Following inpatient rehab she will need speech, physical, and occupational therapy in her home. After she regains some strength her need for therapy will continue in an out patient facility. Once home Ines will also need some assistance from a nurse aide or caregiver that is able to assist with her activities of daily living. Treatment is expected to last at least 6 to 12 months and we are unable to cover all the needed expenses. We are reaching out to you, our family and friends for help.
The cost for just 6 days of inpatient rehab is $5,400 and she will require more than the initial 6 days that we are able to provide. Following inpatient rehab, the necessary home and outpatient therapy will cost approximately $300/$400 per day. She will require this therapy at least 3 days per week, approximately $3,600-$4,800 a month. These costs do not include her current hospital stay, the continuation of physician care, or the many prescription medications necessary to keep her healthy and prevent another stroke. Without insurance to cover her rehabilitation, treatment is expected to be paid for prior to services and without long term payment options. Please help us get Ines back to the able bodied and strong woman she was before this devastating stroke. Staying motivated during stroke recovery can be difficult and challenging, so we are also asking her friends to help support her by sending her messages of love, encouragement, and motivation.
