Independent, Coming of Age Docu-Series

Donation protected

Hello, I hope that where ever you are in this world that this message is finding you well. My name is Frankie, I am a recent film school graduate and let's be honest, somewhat of a starving artist. I have had some blessed opportunities to be the Director of Photography on some films that have made it to festivals across the United States. And I am now getting ready to embark on a journey and direct and shoot my first Documentary, which will be shot in the form of a mini series. The focus of this docuseries is very near and dear to my heart, and has been an integral part of my family for two generations. My crew and I will be following the Dead & Company in order to artistically and accurately depict the community, adventure, lifestyle and love that the Grateful Dead's musical impact has had for almost 60 years and what that looks like in 2019. As much as this series is a coming of age story, my intent is to represent these ideologies in way that is authentic and this project is quite grassroots. Think Kerouac's "On The Road" meets a Vice documentary with subtle Hunter S. Thompson vibes.

My crew and I have limited funds, but have each been working one or two steady jobs to produce our own project. However, things often go awry when shooting films, especially indies, and despite all of our efforts to save and budget, we seem to be missing our mark.  It is not like me to reach out and ask for help or handouts, but since this is a project about humanity and above all, community - I thought that I would reach out to the world and ask for your assistance in this artistic endeavor. To say we would be grateful for the smallest donation is an understatement. Any help you could provide will be immensely, immensely appreciated. I think there is something beautiful to be said about the fact that with the collective efforts of strangers, family, friends and a very hardworking crew, a visceral piece of art can be created and shared with the world. In the words of John Barlow and Bob Weir "I need a miracle".
