my husbands medicine

My name is Leah Patton and my husband is Kelly Patton. We live in Wichita Kansas.We just got married July 2012. I am 50 and Kelly is 55. After a year of being married, I decided we needed to get life insurance for Kelly. He had a physical done and it came back that Kelly's liver counts were abnormal .Kelly went to the doctor to check into it and the family doctor sent him to a specialist.  After having a sonogram  done , we found that Kelly has Cirrhosis and  Hepatitis C.  After having a CT  scan , we found that he also has  liver cancer . We started off immediately at the K.U. Medical Center in Kansas City with radioactive chemotherapy beeds that go directly  into the 3 tumors in the liver.   We since then found out that the cancer has spread to Kelly's back. We were called back to the liver transplant doctor and he said that kelly is a good candidate for the new drug" Harvoni .  It cures Hepatitis C  in 12 weeks. Our  doctor submitted it to our insurance company and they turned us down because of the cancer in the liver.
This medication is extremely expensive.   It is $1000 a pill per day or 84,000 for 12 weeks. If Kelly can get this medication to cure the Hep. C . , and the chemotheapy and radiation can  stop the cancer , he will have a chance to live a long life . We have 7 granddaughters and we all need him to be here for us.   Because the cancer has traveled outside the liver ,  Kelly is no longer on the transplant list for a new liver.
