In ricordo di Valerio Nicolai

Carissimi,

ogni giorno ci troviamo a fare i conti con la morte. Più cresciamo e più capiamo che i sorrisi sono temporanei, che la gioia non dura in eterno e delle volte la vita ci mette davanti a scenari che non pensiamo mai possano appartenerci.

 

Il 18 Marzo sarà il primo anniversario della scomparsa prematura del nostro papà e dopo mesi lunghi e difficili ci siamo resi conto che ogni persona che incontriamo, che conosceva nostro papà o che semplicemente pensa a noi come figlie troppo giovani per rimanere senza un padre, in qualche modo ci vuole ricordare che esistono dei vuoti che non saranno mai più colmati.

 

Noi abbiamo deciso di ribellarci a questo pensiero e nonostante sia vero che nostro padre non sarà in grado di fare ritorno su questa terra, saremo noi a riempire questo vuoto portando avanti e onorando quello che era il suo pensiero di vivere sempre per il buono e per il giusto.

 

Abbiamo deciso di aprire una raccolta fondi, cosa che con tutto il cuore ci auguriamo possa diventare una bellissima tradizione per ricordare Valerio ogni anno, per aiutare diverse cause che sono a noi più care e per riempire questo vuoto con speranza e amore per un chi ancora ha un futuro, un futuro però precario, un futuro per il quale ancora si può combattere.

 

Con l’aiuto di amici medici e collaboratori di questi ultimi abbiamo deciso quale associazione potesse fare al caso nostro e dunque per il primo anniversario di Valerio apriamo la raccolta fondi da donare INTERAMENTE all’associazione “INFINITO AMORE” una ONLUS che si impegna in primo luogo a sostenere la divisione oncoematologica dell’Ospedale Pediatrico Bambino Gesù di Roma, assistendo e dedicandosi alle famiglie e ai bambini affetti in particolare dalle leucemie, linfomi, neuroblastomi e altre malattie oncologiche.

Con questa raccolta fondi vogliamo trovare uno spazio nel nostro cuore per trasformare il dolore in amore, l’assenza in speranza e il ricordo del nostro papà Valerio il più immortale possibile. Chiunque conoscesse Valerio può certo ricordare che non aveva paura della morte ma non poteva sopportare di vedere tanto dolore. Siamo certe che con questo gesto, e con i successivi che ci impegneremo a portare avanti, possiamo fare una minima differenza, possiamo strappare forse un sorriso e onorare il nostro Valerio e ringraziarlo ogni giorno per aver fatto parte delle nostre vite e averci aiutato in ogni istante più di quanto potesse aiutare se stesso.

 

Vogliamo dunque lasciarvi con una citazione che scrisse qualche natale fa il nostro papà in lettere che mandava per augurare buone feste ad amici, clienti e parenti.

Con la speranza che possa nascere sempre un sorriso sul vostro volto ogni volta che pensate a lui, vi vogliamo ringraziare anche solo di aver letto queste poche frasi e ci auguriamo che possiate condividere con noi che l’assenza di una persona cara si possa trasformare in infinito amore per la vita.

(Nel caso ve lo stesse chiedendo, nessuna delle due guida un BMW GS con il quale il nostro papà in questo momento scorrazza felice – in assenza di Autovelox a noi sempre molto cari – in qualche piano alto a noi ancora sconosciuto).

Dear friends, 
The more we grow, the more we understand that smiles are temporary, that joy does not last forever and sometimes life puts us in front of scenarios that we never think can belong to us. 

On march 18th will be the first anniversary of our dad's untimely departure. After long and difficult months we realized that every person we meet - who knew our dad or who simply thinks of us as too young to be left without a father, - in somehow want to remind ourselves that there is a void that will never be filled again. 

We have decided to rebel against this thought and - although it is true that our father will not be able to return to this earth - we will fill this void by carrying on and honoring what was his thought of always living for the good and for the right. 
We have decided to start a fundraiser - which with all our heart we hope will become a beautiful tradition to remember Valerio every year - to help different causes that are dearest to us and to fill this void with hope and love for someone who still has a future, but a precarious one, a future that can still be fought for. 

With the help of medical friends and collaborators of the latter we decided which association could be right for us. We will donated the ENTIRE amount to the association "INFINITO AMORE" an ONLUS that is committed in the first place place to support the oncohematological division of the Bambino Gesù Pediatric Hospital in Rome, assisting and dedicating itself to families and children affected in particular by leukemia, lymphomas, neuroblastomas and other oncological diseases. 

With this fundraiser we want to find a space in our hearts to transform pain into love, absence into hope and the memory of our father Valerio as immortal as possible. Anyone who knew Valerio can certainly remember that he was not afraid of death but could not bear to see so much pain. We are certain that with this gesture, and with the subsequent ones that we will strive to carry out, we can make a minimum difference, we can perhaps snatch a smile and honor our Valerio and thank him every day for having been part of our lives and helping us in every instant more than he could help himself. 

We therefore want to leave you with a quote that our dad wrote some Christmas ago in letters that he sent to wish happy holidays to friends, customers and relatives.
