In My Home Town

Donation protected
In My Hometown (working title) is an evening length contemporary dance work which consists of several short vignettes. Opening with the entire cast, we meet a community of people each with their own personal struggle.

In a society that prides itself on appearances, every person has made a choice to fight their battle on their own, never letting on that their life is less than perfect and never knowing that the person standing next to them is fighting something as well.

Moving into the evening we meet more individuals and become familiar with the problems they face. We meet people battling illness and abuse. We see someone who has lost love and some who are fighting for it. All the while not knowing that the support and compassion they need is closer than they ever thought.

In the second half of the evening walls are broken. Accepting that some battles are too difficult to fight alone, two characters find common ground and set off a chain reaction.

Letting go of the façade does not come easily to some as pride gets in the way. Ultimately, learning that the need to help others sometimes outweighs our own problems, the dynamic of the community begins to shift.

Closing the show with the entire cast finally coming to terms with their reality and finding a release that was not possible on their own.
