Richard Milazzo (who is far left in the above photo next to his mum Celia) tragically drowned on New Year’s Eve whilst swimming with two of his brothers and friends at Frazer Park Beach, North of Wyong. Two of his brothers were involved in trying to save Richard from the sea and in the efforts to resuscitate him. Richard is survived by 7 brothers, his sister and his mother, Celia and father Salvatore.
This community minded, caring and close family are struggling with the sudden loss of Richard and to come to terms with this tragedy.
My name is Anne Louise and I am the Manager of Client Services at The Housing Connection in Chatswood, we are a non profit organisation based in Northern Sydney. Both Richards mum Celia and his sister Maria are employed with us and they work with vulnerable adults with intellectual disability and mental health issues on a casual bases.
As Celia's employers we know that nothing we do or say can heal this tragic loss but we hope we can raise enough money so that the family can grieve without worry. We have set a target of $20,000 to firstly cover the cost and associated costs of Richard's funeral, which due to the tragic circumstances and delays will be held late next week or the following. As Celia and Maria are casual employees we also wanted to raise additional funds to give them the financial freedom to take the time that they need off work and not have to worry about living costs and lost wages.
As costs become finalised we will withdraw the funds into The Housing Connection bank account and our accountant will deposit them directly into Celia's account so that she can make any required payments.
We are so grateful for your support- together we can make a difference for Richards family as they begin to grieve the loss of their son and brother.
