In Memory of Reynaldo Pagurayan

My dad was a very very good man, he loves his family & puts his wife & kids first over everything. Our papa was also very friendly, he loved making new friends & he loved talking & listening. He just never stops smiling, that’s what everyone loved about him. He loved the bible very very much & he collects them from the Tagalog version, to the King James version, etc. Our papa also loves to give us bible verses to study & understand, he always mentions how heaven is a beautiful place & a very peaceful place. All of the learnings of the bible he memorizes & he was always excited if you ask him about the bible as well. He would donate to bible teachings from the Philippines, and even suggest some topics to talk about. He also talks a lot about helping other people because they might be angels in disguise and might be testing us if we’re going to help others out, always tells us to never build up anger or grudges, always forgive, & love thy neighbor even if they’re saying bad things about you. He always taught us how to unconditionally love each other and always respect our parents. He mentions how God can hear our prayers, always thank God for everything that has happened, ask for forgiveness, & remember to love him.

Sadly, on December 13, 2020 around 12:00-1:00PM, papa was feeling dizzy and sat down. My mom and I carried him to his room & I screamed for my fiance to call 911 right away to have first aid ready for him. While we waited, we put socks on his feet to keep him warm. When the ambulance arrived the EMTs thought it was vertigo, I told him not to close his eyes and keep them open & stay responsive, but when we arrived at the emergency room at Seton Medical Center, they rushed him out in front of us & he already had tubes & he was unconscious. The doctors told us that he was responsive for the first 5 minutes and then he started snoring. That’s when they knew he was going through a stroke. A couple of hours later the doctor told us that he had a hemorrhage stroke & his vein had burst in his brain and he is suffering from severe brain bleed. He gave us an option to do a blood drain or an operation (which consisted of draining the blood & opening his skull to remove the blood clot completely) We chose to do the operation to save my dad. After a few hours, they told us to go home so they could proceed with the operation. Around 9pm was when the operation had begun & it was successful, but he was still unresponsive. They gave us approximately 3 days for him to respond, even though he still hasn’t responded, the doctors did not give up on him. Everyday we would call him & facetime him, visitations weren’t allowed due to COVID-19. Approximately 1 week and 5 days the nurse manager called us and let us know that his blood pressure was going really low & gave us bad news. A couple of days later she let us know that they’re just keeping his body alive artificially, then the manager mentioned that they will let my mom and sister see my dad to say their goodbyes. Around 6:15PM on December 31, 2020 my sister got a call from the manager saying that my dad’s heart stopped & they tried reviving him, but nothing worked. They let him go peacefully. Our papa will forever be remembered & will live in our memories forever and ever. May our dad rest in paradise.

We are in need of financial assistance for my dad’s funeral to help cover costs as it is hard during the pandemic financially. We appreciate any kind of donation & we thank you all so much in advance for your help during this hard time for us.
