In Memory of Lana Mercer

We lost our beautiful baby girl Lana Tuesday morning. The pain is difficult to put into words; we miss her so, so much. She was such a beautiful baby, so full of love and joy. Everyone that came into contact with her knew how special she was. We love her immensely; I would give anything to have her back. But we believe she is with Jesus and we’ll see her again. Lucy has lost her beloved baby sister and our family is hurting; we need lots of prayer.

We were able to donate Lana’s heart to a baby in need. Thinking of a mama getting a call that her prayers have been answered brings me a lot of comfort. I’m also donating my milk to a local mama that had preemie twins and her and I have become close friends. It’s fitting with Lana’s sweet spirit that we’re able to help others this way.

We’d like to invite all our friends and family to please come and join us for a celebration of life to remember Lana’s beautiful life and honor her. We’ll be having an open house memorial this Sunday evening with a viewing and refreshments. It’ll be very informal, but seeing people that love us and loved lana has been a huge source of comfort. Wayne and I will say a few words at 7pm and the open house will be from 6-8pm. We’d love to see you and celebrate and remember Lana’s precious life together. Thank you for all the love and support; it helps make some of this crippling pain a little bit more bearable.

It’s so difficult to write something like this; we don’t really know what to say. Some moments it’s hard to even breathe. We love Lana so much though, and are so proud of the impact she made in 10 short months. She was my little buddy; I loved taking her everywhere with me and I was so proud to show her off. I know she’ll always be a part of us and we’ll never ever forget her.
