In Memory of Kyle Popese

My brother, Kyle Popese was a man with a big personality, big smile and an even bigger heart. In 2014 he was diagnosed with Cogestive Heart Failure. His heart was too weak to contain all the love he had for his friends and family. Overtime his heart got weaker and weaker, but my brother refused to give up. He carried on for four long years, with a big smile, that hid his tremendous pain. He never wanted others to be sad, so he soldiered on, despite his body falling apart and his mind becoming hazy. The most important thing to him was to take care of his friends and family. In late 2017, his heart got so weak, that it caused his organs to fail. I remember that day, when I brought him to Queens medical center in Honolulu, and the doctors told us that due to the massive organ failure, my brother had a few months to live. His only option was to go to the main land for a heart and kidney transplant, but since his condition was so severe, he wasn't a candidate, since his chance of surviving the operation was small. Through the grace of God, and the strength, support and prayers of his amazing family and friends, Kyle was able to change his status from hospice care to outpatient treatment. Day and night, my family worked, to build his strength so he can travel to meet the doctors at Stanford medical, for the life saving heart transplant, but when we were one month away from our goal, tragedy struck and my brother had a stroke, severely complicating his condition.  With the last of his energy, he willed himself back home, so he could be next to his beloveds; our parents, and his nephews, my sons Zeki and Xander, who he loved more than anything else. Kyle's big heart finally gave out on September 21st, 2018. He was 32 years old. He collapsed at home and died in my mom's arms, next to my dad and my two year old son, Xander. We take solace and comfort, knowing that his tremendous pain has finally ended, and that he went out on his own terms, next to those he loved the most. Challenges and struggles are not new to our family; we have survived the deployments of myself and our younger  brother to the middle east, overcome the disabilities my sister was born with, witness my dad bounce back from a brain tumor, revel in the joy of my wife and son Zeki,  surviving and recovering from a near fatal embryonic fluid embolism during childbirth, but this is by far the biggest challenge. We will pick up the pieces of our broken hearts, to unite to fulfill the final wishes, of our beloved brother, Kyle Popese. We admit, that this burden of honoring his memory, his hopes and dreams is too great for us. We humbly ask for your support. We do not care for the size of the donation, the amount of time spent, so as long as it is given with sincerity, love and respect. The donations, will be used to support my brother's mermorial service, here in Honolulu, on October 13th, 2018. Any left overs, will go to my parents, to relieve financial burdens, caused by my brother's missing income. I am personally, very grateful and very humbled to see all the love and humanity that everyone has given to my brother. Love conquers all fears. Thank you all. We love you Kyle. Never stop smiling.
