In Memory of Konnor Katzmark

We lost an amazing young man yesterday. Konnor Katzmark was a great son to his parents, a mentor to the kids that looked up to him, a gifted lifesaver and lifeguard competitor, fantastic overall waterman, and most importantly, a great friend and awesome person to all that knew him.
Konnor was a former Pompano Beach Junior Guard, FLOR JG and FLOR USLA Academy graduate, Deerfield Beach and Hollywood professional lifeguard and multiple-time regional and national champion in the Rescue Board Race, 2K Beach Run, and Ironguard events.
The South Florida beach community is in pain today, after hearing the devastating news of his passing. His closest friends feel utterly broken inside and out. Konnor was a guy who would always be there for anyone that knew him. Whether he was teaching young groms to surf or skateboard on his own time, or leading junior lifeguards in Pompano Beach, he was smiling and laughing the whole time.
Konnor had an innter love and passion for everything he did, be it in the water or out of it. He was always the first person to make someone laugh when they were sad, or crack open a cold one when times were tough. Words cannot come close to describing who he was as a person. He seemed like an old soul, with wisdom beyond his years, who cared about all of those who were around him.
We will all miss Konnor, and the void his passing has created will never be filled. The deepest of condolences, however go out to his mom and dad, who lived every day and breathed every breath for their son, Konnor. In this time of greatest sorrow, lets show them how much he meant to all of us by helping them better deal with this unfathomable trajedy.
Konnor is gone, but he will never be forgotten. He will live on in our hearts and memories, and in the impact he has had on all the people that were lucky enough to know him. Lifeguards for life, and in death, are family forever.
