In Memory Of John Bunce - an AED to save lives.

Donation protected
My Father, John - passed away 27/02/2020 having suffered a Sudden Cardiac Arrest.

Unsurprisingly, he was at work on site (if you knew him you would understand). Despite the absolute best efforts of people on site, the paramedics, and the hospital, he could not be saved.

One thing I do know about my Dad is that if he could help you, he would do...

Which brings me to the reason why I am fundraising.

I am proud to have known my father for as long as I have. At 61 he did have the chance to see me progress, see his grandchildren, and they got to know him. One thing this has taught me so far is that you can't take people, and their existence in life for granted.

So, I want to - in my Fathers memory, try to help someone who may need it. I hope what we can achieve through fundraising online, and at the funeral will give someone a fighting chance.

What is SCA (Sudden Cardiac Arrest)

Sudden Cardiac Arrest and other heart related issues do not discriminate, from young to old, fit or not, and the need for urgent action could not be more necessary than in that moment when the heart stops beating.

It happens without warning. Someone may seem fine one minute and collapse the next.
This was what happened to my Father.

Without quick action to revive the heart, a person can suffer brain damage within 3 minutes.

3 Minutes... Thats just 180 seconds...

But delivering an electric shock to restore a normal heartbeat as soon as possible on top of giving CPR can be lifesaving.

CPR is hard, and laborious, but an AED can help, by restoring the heart rhythm, as well as helping with CPR and advising on status of the heart during CPR.

To put it bluntly, an AED can be the difference between life and death.

I would like to raise as much as possible for this cause - I am in touch with the British Heart Foundation, as well as area leaders discussing where we can best support a local community/business with a life saving defibrillator.

ALL monies will firstly be put toward physical things such as an AED, the cabinet to house it in, and any associated costs. If there is money left over from this, I will firstly look to place this with an existing AED fundraiser if I can, followed by any remainders to a charity of our families' choosing.

Our target covers the cost of a fully kitted, top of the range AED, with a secure code access to avoid vandalism, with a basic training pack, awareness signage for the local area, and registration with emergency services so it can be accessed 24/7. Less extravagant models are available, and will be an option should we not meet target.
