In Memory of Feather Rose Shendo

Donation protected
Feather Rose Shendo was born on February 4th, 1995 in Lorain Ohio bringing light to our lives as well as our extended family in the Northeast Ohio Native American community. The beginning of her 25 years on Mother Earth were full of love, laughter and joy. She could draw from a young age and would design intricate scribblings of imaginary worlds that only a child could dream of. She was home in creativity. She was silly and clever and could brighten your day with a joke or one of her creative stories. Feather attended Bethany Lutheran and graduated from Lutheran High School West in 2013.  She was a talented artist, baker, and Starbucks barista. She had a passion for music, poetry, her Winnebago and Apache roots, and had an obsession with bunnies.

Feather was sensitive but passionate in everything she did and moved through life with compassion for others and the earth. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile and her shimmering spirit that could light up a room. She is preceded in death by her Mother Renee Shendo; Her beloved “Granny” Linda Gatton; Grandparents Arthur B. and Dorothy Ann McGuire. She is survived by many loving siblings, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Feather passed away on May 4th, 2020 in Lakewood Ohio of suicide, after along battle with mental illness.  A private memorial service is being held on June 27th in Novelty, OH. Our hearts are heavy and we are only in need of your love and support and have received so much of this already. Thank You. We ask that in lieu of flowers, if you would like to contribute something, that you help us support Glenbeigh, a 501-(c)-3 non-profit hospital that treats individuals with alcohol and drug addictions, or The Red Bird Center, a Native 501-(c)-3 non-profit organization that specializes in Native American Family Programs, Veteran Healing, and Trauma and Addiction Recovery Retreats. When she was struggling most, Glenbeigh was a place that Feather felt safe and positive about her ability to fight her addictions. Red Bird Center is helping our family heal emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.

You can donate here on GoFundMe or feel free to send funds to them directly at https://www.glenbeigh.com/donate and https://www.redbirdcenter.org/donations/ - just mention Feather's name in the comments.

On behalf of the family, thank you for loving our sister. She lives in our hearts forever.
