In memory of Dr. Hermann:Shelter medical supplies

For those that would rather drop off items we welcome you to do so! Items collected at Fluff N Puff in Romulus will be distributed amongst the local shelters. Or you can directly donate to any shelter in honor of his memory.

The world lost a great man this week. Dr. John Hermann was first and foremost a son, brother, family member and a loyal and dedicated friend to many. He was also a veterinarian, animal advocate and a great businessman.

His love for his clients and their pets was beyond that of a normal veterinarian. As staff we would regularly be told to discount this or that, throw this in there at no charge, or “they’re all set” was a common phrase at clinics. Clients became friends and friends became family. There was no shortage of help that he was willing to give.

On top of a regular clinic schedule Dr. Hermann spent many hours in local animal shelters and rescues. Knowing that Municipal shelters are grossly underfunded, overpopulated and overwhelming Dr. Hermann stepped in helping the only way he knew how. He dedicated a large part of his time to animal control officers and shelter staff, training and guiding them through proper shelter care and crises. Holding yearly or even weekly low cost clinics in shelter and municipal buildings helped ensure pets were vaccinated and licensed. He would always make sure that there were medical supplies left so that staff could handle most any situation without having to leave the shelter or that they were able to make it to him or another vet safely.

This gofundme is something Dr. Hermann would be proud of. We are collecting money in his memory to stock local shelters with much needed medical supplies.

Some things that we will be looking to purchase for shelters will be:

*Towels

*Flea/tick prevention

*Bandages and vet wrap

*Syringes

*Disinfectants

*E-collars

*Muzzles

*Leashes/collars

*Fur clippers and blades

*Scales

*Dewormers

Funds may also be put aside for things like:

*Vaccines

*Heartworm test/ prevention

*Vet visits

*Shelter staff training

We know that many, many people loved and cared for Dr. Hermann. Everyone is looking for a way to help! This is a way that you can honor his memory while supporting a cause that was near and dear to his heart.

There are talks of a shelter doing a dedication in his honor. We will keep everyone informed of that as we hear more!
