In Memorium of Melanie Hughes
Donation protected
[edited] Wow. I am so in awe of the amazing generosity of all those who have donated. Every penny has been prayed over and please know I have read through every name, every comment, and every photo.
I’d really like to take a moment and share how this came about. I was told of the tragedy Tuesday morning, after which I gathered with my son, mom, and sister to mourn from afar in BC. We spoke to several members of our family that morning in hopes of understanding a completely unfathomable event. We were all totally heart broken. As we arranged our travels home, I just could not shake the overwhelming feeling of what I would do in this situation and what kind of help I would need if I were Justin. I turned to my local moms group suggesting a collection of donations for gift cards. It was suggested to create this Go Fund Me. I was leary in the beginning as I didn’t want to over-step, but with great thoughtfulness I took the steps to get started thinking “even if I just give him a couple hundred dollars from us moms.” And I set the initial goal for $500. That night I went to sleep after only sharing the link in my mama’s group who are so generous and love to help others who need it. When I woke up the next morning it was at 241 shares and around a couple hundred dollars. Throughout Wednesday it grew exponentially and comments, shares, and donations poured in. I upped the goal to $10,000 thinking “wouldn’t that be incredible!” I have never had a specific thought for how Justin could use this money just that he can decide what they need most and how it will help Winston, himself, and Larry too. I hope with all my heart and prayers that this will be used in a way that could eventually bring hope and positivity to their lives and how Melanie would love to see them use it. It has been an awfully hard week to see so much pain and heartbreak. Knowing the amazing man that Justin is and how committed he is to his family I know every dollar donated will be used with great thought, love, and appreciation. Thank you so much for your generosity, thoughts, and prayers. May peace be with you. ❤️
[original] Hoping to help Justin navigate a new world of single fatherhood after the loss of his wife, an unborn baby, and his mom. He will now need extra support to raise his son after she was tragically taken from them in car accident caused by an impaired driver.
