In Memoriam of Gideon Keepers

Gideon Josiah Keepers was born on October 10, 2016, with multiple health challenges.  After 388 days of setbacks and miracles, Gideon was weaned to a home vent and able to go home on November 3, 2017.  On Friday, December 8, Gideon started breathing hard and experienced a skin color change, so his parents brought him to Children’s Hospital to have him checked out.  After sitting in the ER and getting him to his room, he was as happy and smiley as ever and his parents were second-guessing their decision to bring him in.  The next morning he suddenly went into cardiac arrest, and while the hospital team was able to bring him back, he suffered a number of injuries and damage that the doctors were not sure was reversible.

 

At 2:45 am on Wednesday, December 13, Gideon peacefully passed away with his mom and dad at his side.  Gideon’s name means “Mighty Warrior”, and that he was.  He will be sadly missed by his parents, Ryan and Krista, and siblings Evangeline, Micah and Asher.
