John Carlos Macias was an 11 year old student that attended Vernon Middle School in Montclair, California. On Thursday September 6, 2018, he was struck and killed by a vehicle while in the crosswalk in front of his school.  This GoFundMe page is organized by his school, community and those he has touched by his kindness and strength. John had a love for sports, especially soccer.  His friendly demeanor made all his classmates feel comfortable and supported.  Part of his calm, loving nature is due to being a big brother.
 

John was selected to participate in our AVID elective, to help prepare him for college. Their first assignment this year was to share "My Journey" which outlines his life. Below were his dreams, as shared in his AVID class:


As you can see, John had an infectious smile, a love for life, and big plans for his future. On behalf of all of us who know this family, we ask for positive thoughts, sharing this page, or monetary support. Anything will and can help this loving family.

(My name is Kim Medeiros-Tovar and I am the principal of the middle school where John attended. I've created this Go Fund Me page since the families needs are beyond what our staff alone can provide and I hope that by sharing their story the generosity of others can help them. The funds will be used by the family to help with funeral expenses. They will be receiving 100% of the donations minus the fees. (Currently, GoFundMe takes 5 percent of donations, and payment processors take 2.9 percent, along with 30 cents per donation)
