In Loving Memory of James Glancy

Words can't describe how our hearts are grieving when it comes to telling you about the passing of our beloved father, husband, brother, uncle, and friend - James Glancy. I am writing today to share his story as well as the great need for help financially. James, my father was a special man who was full of life. If you knew him, you knew he was a talker. After just a few short minutes of talking, you felt like you had known him for years! He was a wonderful father and husband to our beloved family. Although we often struggled financially throughout our childhood, he always made sure his family had the necessities needed to survive before it came to purchasing something for himself. J.C. was always willing to help anyone in need, in whatever way he could even when he didn't have much himself. Tragically in 2013, he found a large lump on his chest. After a stressful week of biopsies and scans, he was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. Given this terrible diagnosis, it did not take long before this robust and joyful man was subjected to weekly chemo treatments followed by days of fatigue. Although our father was going through so much, he still kept his good faith and continued to have a positive outlook on life. He would never complain about his health issues to others, instead he kept the mindset that "someone always had it worse." He could always turn a frown upside down with his personality, making a sad moment a happy one. Although he loved his five children, his grandchildren were his whole world. His face lit up when he saw them even when he wasn't feeling his best. While going through treatment, the local food pantry needed assistance helping others after hurricane Sandy. My dad was quick to go there to help volunteer his time serving others without any hesitation. Although my dad put up a good fight against his cancer, this past Monday his cancer won the battle. My mom has been his caretaker through it all, helping him every step of the way. This past week at the hospital has been the hardest week of our lives thus far. Our family spent every waking moment possible at his beside holding him tight and telling him we love him. When he passed he was surrounded by the ones he loves most. I started this fundraiser to help assist with the cost of his funeral and burial expenses. Our family is praying we can allow our dad to be laid to rest with the proper funeral and burial in which he deserved. We appreciate any donation made in Lieu of flowers in advance. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers at such a difficult time. -Jennifer
