In Loving Memory of Donna Cupani

Donna Marie Cupani, 58 years old, had an infectious laugh and smile. Many referred and still refer to her as a ray of sunshine or a bright sunflower. Her career choice was to be a mother, and she was the best at it. Not only would she do anything for her three sons, Michael, John and Nic, and her daughter, Christina, but for all of their friends, her friends and anyone she met and talked to directly. She spent her last five years enjoying her husband, the love of her life, Steven’s retirement. Whether they went for a long drive on a Saturday, to a close friend's house for dinner or just cuddled on the couch, they did it together. 

On Sunday, February 10th, Donna unexpectedly had a massive heart attack and suffered from cardiac arrest in her home. Her husband, Steven, was there to begin chest compressions immediately and called an ambulance to get her to the hospital. She was without a pulse for over 30 minutes, but a ventilator was able to be inserted thanks to the team of EMS and nurses. She has been in the Cardiac ICU at Inspira Vineland ever since. Before doing any CAT scans or brain tests, nurses and doctors were focused on fixing her heart. On Thursday, Valentines Day, a CAT scan was done and showed Donna had global damage to her brain. The only system that did not suffer trauma was her respiratory system. A neurologist came and did tests telling us she had not improved and was not expected to. 

Her family and loving friends said their goodbyes over the weekend and she was taken off life support this Sunday, February 17th. Donna passed through the night with her husband at her side, leaving her devoted family and friends sorely missing their beautiful mother, wife, friend, and family member. 

The family is grieving immeasurably, and has not been to work in the past week while they stayed close their mother's side. Steven is retired and on a fixed income, leaving the family with a limited source of funds for Donna's service and hospital bills. Donna was the light of her family's life and we would do anything to bring her back here for one more laugh, smile, and joke. Please consider helping out the family as they plan her service this week.
