In Loving Memory of Craig Lawrenson

I am writing this as a close family friend, to reach out for any help you may be able to give to support the family at this devastating time, to enable them to give Craig the send off he so truly deserves.

Craig was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer T3N3M1 in August last year. He had a stent fitted in October and was doing very well. In November the cancer spread to his hip, which resulted in him undergoing a major hip operation. Craig continued to show his strength for the next 7 weeks only to be told that he had a massive tumour in his other hip, which was growing daily. An operation was due to take place in December but unfortunately, on the day of the operation Craig was told that it was now too late to operate as there were too many risks. Chemotherapy was offered for the first time since his original diagnosis.

Craig remained strong and determined only to catch the dreaded Covid virus and was admitted to hospital on NYE. Craig had unfortunately contracted Covid pneumonia. Again he fought hard and came through, only for the cancer to have taken its toll on him. Craig was in excruciating pain and decided he couldn’t take anymore. He was black and blue and swollen and told the nurses “no more antibiotics”. When asked what he wanted to do Craig said he wanted to go home. He was sent home from hospital on the evening of the 6th of January. Craig passed 5 days later in his Wife, Wendy’s arms whilst his Son Jamie held his hand.

Wendy and Craig had been together for over 33 years and Craig leaves behind 4 children; Jamie, Amy, Abbie and Aidan of which the youngest are just 15 and 11 years old. Craig also leaves a Grandchild, Ellie and a second Grandchild due later this year.
