Hi Everyone,
James Haggerstone, who has recently passed away, was a dear friend, NH colleague, community volunteer, advocate extraordinaire, a man with a huge heart and an amazing intellect. This GoFundMe project seeks to memorialize him in several ways. Your contribution would be very much appreciated.
James was a quirky man who contributed to bettering our world, in a number of ways. He worked for Northern Health as a Regional Manager Health Information Analysis for many years, creating systems and structures to help both employees and the public understand our health care system through user-friendly data. He delighted in analysing and crafting access to data, answering questions and interpreting information for the benefit of us all.
James was a passionate advocate for the vulnerable individuals in our society. He helped people to access suitable housing, filled in paperwork for financial aid, referred people to employment programs, raised money for hockey equipment, and freely gave of his own money and time to those in need.
James was also a loving ‘uncle’ to his favorite young person Jordin. He supported her growth through swim programs, birthday parties, care packages, reading materials, and just through being a consistent and caring adult. He so loved her!!!
James was a guerilla gardener, encouraging social connection through his garden plot downtown. He enjoyed visiting with neighbours, planting flowers and vegetables, and spending time outdoors. He was well known for seeding the PG city planters with rogue flower seeds, delighting in their growth.
Your support through a donation will help in the following potential initiatives. These are listed with the (informal) committee members:
Memory books: For James twin brother John, and for his beloved Jordin. These books contain photos and memories gathered from many individuals and organizations (Zdenka Masarova).
CNC Bursary: A proposed bursary for a vulnerable student to pursue post secondary education Amount and # of years will depend on fundraising. (Christine James).
Memory Bench: A proposed memory bench in one of the Prince George city parks, so we can all have a place to gather and remember James. (Patty Pasicnyk).
