In honor of Alex Ortiz-Flores

Just over one month ago, friends and family gathered in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, to celebrate Emanuel Alejandro Ortiz Flores (Alex) turning 50! It was a large birthday party, filled with love and laughter.
Alex was humble, thoughtful, and extremely generous. His great sense of humor and genuine personality drew people to him.
Alex worked as a Construction Supervisor for a non-profit called A Child’s Hope Foundation for a little over three years. In this short time, he made an amazing impact! Alex hosted over thirty service trips, getting volunteers involved in projects and building connections with the people at the orphanages. The children, young and old, wanted to be around him. He worked alongside them and took the time to teach them. He was patient with the orphanage children; he was patient with everyone.
“He was a great hugger. He would go out of his way for others,” his friends say.
Those who knew him well reflect fondly that “he loved good food and knew where to find it!”
In early April, Alex developed symptoms related to Covid-19. He passed away from related complications on April 19. Because the pandemic is ongoing, his family is unable to host a memorial at this time.
Alex is survived by his wife, Beatriz, his four beloved children (Cynthia, Jose, Nefi, and Isaac), and two grandchildren. Alex was loved by all who knew him. His kind heart and giving nature will live on in the work of his family, friends, and coworkers.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Alex’s family, and we want to provide as much relief as possible in this time. This campaign supports medical and living expenses, and all funds raised will go directly to his family.
