Just over a year ago, our mate Matt Penny was diagnosed with Stage 4 metastatic bowel cancer. After Matt’s diagnosis, he got married to Sam and then, in the summer, their beautiful daughter Freya entered the world.
This fundraising page was set up by Matt’s friends in London in a bid to support him in Australia and to enable his little family to live the best lives they can.
It is with unbelievable sadness that we announce that Matt passed away on February 20th 2019. Our man fought harder than anyone around him thought possible but he was not able to defeat his illness.
Quite simply, we want to do anything and everything possible to support Sam and Freya.
On March 9 we held the #InForAPenny Ironman Relay fundraiser. The team swam, ran and cycled with our beautiful, inspirational friend at the front and centre of our minds. We smashed it in 11hrs 43mins - a whole 4 MINUTES faster than Penny's time! (He did it on his own... We had about 20 participants!)
Now, we go again... NEXT UP on agenda...
SUNDAY, APRIL 7 - We have an #inforapenny team, led by Amy Wiseman running the Leamington Regency 10K. Amy cruised round he Richmond Course as part of the Relay... so she's well prepared. GO AMY!
SUNDAY, APRIL 7 - While Amy is sprinting round Leamington, JOE "In For A Penny" CLAPSON will be entering the ring for a HEAVYWEIGHT bout at THE TROXY in East London. Daddyshortlegs will be matched against his opponent on March 27. The fight promises to be explosive.
A MESSAGE:
Sam Penny wants everyone following the #InForAPenny campaign to know just how much everyone’s support meant to her husband and Freya’s doting Dad.
Sam: “I just want to say how thankful we’ve been for all of the support, from across the world. Matt felt so loved.
“The donations are so appreciated; helping get us through this next period of grief and to get us back on our feet. Money raised will now help pave the way for me to try to set ourselves up and live the life that Matt was planning for us."
