Help our dad kick cancers butt!

Donation protected
Hi,

In September, 2013; our dad was diagnosed with Rectal Cancer. It was the most shocking thing our family had ever heard. You never think something like this can happen to your family until, it does. We were all quite shaken up by this, but our dad (The person who should be affected by this the most) was as usual the strongest person in the family and brought stability to the situation with his positive attitude and his faith.

Since, then our dad has gone through couple of rounds of Chemotherapy, and Radiation treatments. After some time, the doctors decided to do another set of scans and tests. These scans revealed that there were some cancerous leisions in the liver as well :(.

We decided to do surgery to remove those as well, and after weeks of rest, and months of recovery, and more radiation, all seem to be going well!

Our dad coming home after 3.5 weeks of being in the hospital (post surgery)

Infact, after the last Radiation session he had we even got some of our friends and family to come to the Hospital and had our dad come outside of the Radiation room to the beat of Rocky Music.

After a few months our dad went for follow up scans and to see what the plan for maintainence and remission preventance should be going forward. The scans however revealed some more alarming news. There were now cancerous leisions that had re-appeared in the primary rectal region and the liver region. Additionally, there were also some leisions now showing in the lungs.

As you can imagine this has been a very tough time for our family. It has been quite a challenge trying to manage finances, medical costs and keep a positive attitude about the situation in the midst of all this.

My dad has taught me more than anything that "You Can't Control The Cards You Are Dealt, Just How You Play The Hand."

Perhaps the scariest, and the most difficult news we got from his doctors was that, at this point they do not know how much time he has if it is 6 months or more(hopefully). Statistically with this condition a year is optimistic. He's never been one to succumb to statistics though, and we will continue to fight for him to live his life the way he wants to live, no matter how much time he has.

I know I made the right decision to spend time with him and my family.

Our dad sacrificed everything for us and others his whole life. He never onced put his needs above the needs of others around him.

He's an amazing father, and honestly we could not have asked for a better upbringing, or childhood than the one him and our mom provided for us.

Our dad and us... a looong loooong time ago

Our dad and us, rather recently...

Daddy, Momma, and Tuba (Sister)

He owned a successful dealership back home, and he left that to come to America to provide a better life for his family.

In Pakistan, he had the life of luxury. He left from being the Boss of a large successful business to cleaning bathrooms and parking cars (His first job here) without hesitation, because he put his family's needs above his own.

After working hard for close to 10 years he finally was able to establish himself in America and then bought our home in March of 2013, at this point he was starting to relax, but 6 months later we got news of the Cancer.

We need your help in helping our dad play the hand victoriously with the cards he has been dealt. I know we can't cure cancer in a year, and I know we can't control how cancer affects us, but I refuse to let cancer write our story. We still control that, we still control our destiny, cancer might just alter the path a bit, but we determine how we spend the time we have here on earth.

Our champ!

Below are the 2 things this fundraising campaign will help with.

1. Medical costs that are in excess of 46,000 as of right now. We have tried and will continue to try all kinds of things to help pay the bills. My mom is doing bake sales and cook sales, Me and my sister are offering our technical skills of web-development and mobile app development to raise funds. I will also be organizing a race to help fund raise in the near future.

2. We would love to take our dad for pilgrimage and back home to meet his entire family in September. The second half of the fundraising will help with travel costs, home expenses while we are away, his treatment costs while traveling, and more medical bills that are expected with future treatments in the next 6 months. With us not knowing the amount of time we have, this will be an essential trip, one where we would be able to build memories of a lifetime as we will be able to see our whole family at this wedding. Our family is spread across the world in Canada, Australia, United Kingdom, and USA and will all be gathering at this event.

Please help us and our dad kick cancer's butt and help him play his hand the way he wants, not the way cancer is forcing it. Thank you for your support, prayers, and love. We are truly touched by your generousity.
