COVID Assistance for Chess Girls DC

Help restore the confidence of students using Chess as a tool.
Chess Girls DC Nonprofit Organization needs your help to raise funding to increase the number of students in Washington, DC during the COVID quarantine who can participate in our online classroom. Our chess program teaches a solid foundation in Chess strategies .We would like to share our class room with the entire community.
Chess Girls DC is requesting support to raise $8000 to host free chess lessons twice a week for 90 minutes with a focus on Wards 5, 6, 7, 8 in Washington, DC in an attempt to boost spirits and eliminate idle mindedness during the virtual school semester. This will be paired with free books and weekly tournaments for every student for 15 weeks. The curriculum will include gold memberships to chesskids.com online chess program to provide additional engagement and independent study. Students earn awards and trophies although mailing packages has also been a strain on our budget. All students will receive a full size chess set.
It is important for students to continue to practice strategic thinking, focus, awareness, commitment to goals and long term planning in these times of uncertainty. Chess helps students think of productive ways to deal with setbacks and keep your goals in front of you during a crisis.
Chess Girls DC knows that with your help, we can use technology and innovation to continue our Chess education program by using targeted digital platforms that are tailored to their ability rather than hoping students will find resources on their own. Guided by Founder, Robin Ramson , National Master David Bennett .Chess Girls DC services over 100 girls sharing our resources with boys during the pandemic, hosting tournaments and empowering students with strong chess education foundation.
