Why?
All my life, I have lived with selfish ambitions. My dream going into college was getting my degree, becoming an engineer with a six-digit salary, and eventually having nice, middle-class family. Over the past two years God has shown me that the life I was chasing after, is not even close to what He has planned for me. I discovered this issue over Christmas Break 2017-2018 and began thinking that I needed time to refocus my life; from my standard, every day, engineering student life to God’s plan.
What is YWAM DTS?
Youth with a Mission (YWAM) is a global organization dedicated to “Know God and to make Him known.” Their Discipleship Training School (DTS) is an intensive, six-month course designed to bring Christians into a closer relationship with God and to teach them how to use their God-given gifts and talents to benefit the Kingdom of God. The training is divided into two parts: Lecture Phase - and Outreach Phase. During the Lecture Phase, I and the others on the trip will hear from a variety of speakers, each teaching about living a missions-focused life. After the Lecture Phase, we begin the outreach phase: putting our new knowledge to work in the mission field.
Over the course of the final three months of DTS, we travel to multiple countries sharing the gospel through partnerships with full-time missionaries in the area.
