A Heart for Port Talbot

Port Talbot, a town built on the steelworks industry, was at its peak in the 1960's.  Today, however, the steelworks industry is no longer a booming business for the area . This decline has led to an increase in poverty, high unemployment rates, and an increase in substance abuse. Unfortunately, this has made it difficult for families to live and thrive as they once did.  It’s also tarnished the image of Port Talbot for outsiders, as well as for many of those who live there now. 

Realate Ministry is a faith-based charity organization that was established to address many community issues. We are in the process of setting up money management courses, support for ex-offenders and addicts, church services, free lunches for those attending church services on Sunday, leadership training and a community cafe, which will house most of the charitable services like the special courses, job club, and even youth outreach. 

I've come to be a part of this ministry, including the newly established church, because I see the beauty of Port Talbot and the people.  I see the possibility of change and the potential to increase hope. I am currently overseeing discipleship, strengthening the prayer ministry, offering support and encouragement to the women of this town, and teaching some of the special courses offered."

I see the beauty where many don't. I believe that change can happen.  Eyes can be opened to the beauty. Hearts can once again feel the bloom of hope in their chests.  I want to be a part of it, but I need your help to make it possible.
