Black Artist & Activist Retreat

Since the Spring of 2017, I have been working really hard to make my dream come true of creating a retreat Black Artists & Activists together- here in Vancouver, Unceded Coast Salish Territories.

Being Black in Vancouver can be an isolating and extremely challenging experience.  Couple it with the heightened visibility of violence against Black communities across Turtle Island, and the rise of Facism, and we are often left with a longing for a space where we can come together and hold space for the pain in our hearts.

From November 1st to 5th, Teaching Artists from across Turtle Island will be joining participants throughout the week to lead creative and healing workshops, and facilitate strategizing sessions for our survival and thrival.  

In order to make this happen, and to make the sessions accessible for people of low socio-economic status, we need your support.

In the coming weeks, we will need to raise $5000 to help cover the following costs:

-Honorariums for independent Black Artists & Healers 

-Rental Fees for Venues & Accomodation 

-Food Costs 

To date, we have only received one grant of $200, and our previous campaign raised less than a quarter of the money needed to  put this on- so we truly need every little bit you can afford to donate. Even $10 helps!
