FAN OUR FLAME

We believe that we are shaping the future of art in Arizona. By placing a strong and equal focus on community, business, and art, we strive to create performances that are not only entertaining, but also profitable and relatable. We believe that our approach to performance art is unique and with your help, we can grow into a powerful and influential arts business in Arizona.

Tax-deductible donations go towards rehearsal space, theater rental, costume creation, production crew, and of course, compensating our artists for their hard work. Any amount is tremendously appreciated. $5 pays for 30 minutes of rehearsal time. $25 pays for an instructor to teach class, $50 pays for our yearly website costs, $150 pays for company t-shirts, $500 pays for custom designed costumes, $2,000 pays our lighting and sound technicians, $4,000 pays for our dancer's stipends.

OUR MISSION. We aim to build a more connected and compassionate community through movement and mentorship. We use dance as a means for communication and empathy, an opportunity for personal growth, and an outlet for creativity and artistic expression. We provide live entertainment, dance and fitness classes, mindfulness + movement outreach programs, artist development opportunities, and collaborative projects in our community.

OUR WHY. We know the importance and value of a supportive arts community. We believe in creating a space for our artists, our students, and our audiences to explore their own understanding of themselves and the world around them through artistic expression.

OUR HISTORY. Ignite Collaborative began in 2011 as a space for performers of various backgrounds to come together to create truly unique works of art. Due to vastly different dance backgrounds - modern, contemporary, hip hop, bellydance, theater- we knew we would never be able to dance together in the same company unless we created it.

OUR FUTURE. We are in development for our 3rd annual performance at Tempe Center for the Arts set to premier in 2020. We also have plans to expand our class offerings and expand our in-school program, Jubilee Mindfulness, which brings mindful movement to students with behavioral struggles and special education classrooms.

IGNITE'S PROJECTS

Ignite Collaborative Performances-
Ignite's full-length productions are recognized for strong storytelling, diversity in casting and movement style, and their ability to leave the audience with a thought-provoking message. Ignite performs for diverse audiences in unique venues year-round; from public events like Phoenix First Fridays where we share our love of dance with local musicians, to art galleries like Alwun House where we perform over-the-top theatrical sets for their Halloween parties, to full-scale productions at Tempe Center for the Arts where we've performed for sold-out audiences. We believe that melding a variety of art forms into our performance helps us to connect with a public audience who might not always understand the abstract nature of dance. We always create work with this in mind, striving for a strong balance between a captivating narrative, visually stunning props and costumes, and integrity as artists with strong technical ability.

Jubilee Mindfulness -
Jubilee Mindfulness is a school outreach program that combines mindfulness practice, creative arts therapies, and S.T.E.A.M. (Science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) concepts to help students practice self-control, emotional regulation, and compassion through artistic activities. Jubilee works with both typical students and students with special needs to help them build community within their classrooms. The program creates customized workshops for students of all ages (from Kindergarten to Grade 12) to help them understand their emotions and use that understanding to connect with one another. Activities are hidden within science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (S.T.E.A.M.) concepts to allow students to learn mindfulness while having fun and practicing academic skills. Jubilee is already making a difference in the lives of K-12 students in the Scottsdale Unified School District and private programs across the valley.

#STARTAFIRE Thursdays -
Ignite offers weekly public dance classes which incorporate mindfulness and movement therapy practices into a traditional dance technique class. Adult students are encouraged to break down mental barriers as they learn dance technique to help them become stronger people, both mentally and physically. This program has been in practice since November 2019 and has received positive reviews from students calling it unique, life-changing, and powerful.
