If Anyone Can... Ethan Can!

On the 9th October this year, Ethan started to become unwell and not tolerating feeds. we put it down to a sickness bug because of Ethan starting nursery, however as the month went on, Ethan started to show signs that there was more serious issues. on the 24th October Ethan was admitted to Norfolk and Norwich hospital vomiting poo with enlarged abdomen, after trying various things Ethan was taken to surgery on 6th November. The operation found a large bowel loop being pulled in to the pelvis which was cutting off the blood supply the rectum. Ethan spent 7 hours in theatre that day and he had a very bad recovery. on Wednesday 8th November Ethan nearly died due to complications of the operation. But being the fighter he is he fought so hard to overcome this hurdle but only a week later he was taken back to theatre for placement of a double lumen Hickman line. this is a line in his chest this is now used to administer TPN and any other medication Ethan requires, unfortunately Ethan’s bowel failed to work and on Monday 27th Ethan was taken back to theatre to have a stoma placed. our world came crashing down Ethan nearly died,leaving him in PICU very poorly he had an abscess on the large bowel resulting in the removal of all of the large bowel and some of the small, Ethan has been left with a total of 70cm of bowel he will be TPN defendant for life meaning he needs to be attached to the tpn long term, as a family we have a hit a stumbling block that Ethan’s maclaren stroller is now unsuitable for his needs as it will not carry the equipment he requires. we are hoping to raise funds for a bugaboo donkey. This has a side basket and a very large basket underneath which is fantastic storage! Ethan faces months in hospital and recovery at home and this Pram would allow the nurses and us as parents to take Ethan for walks off the ward and us to use when he is home. If you can help in any way shape or form we would be most great full we are really sorry to ask but with everything going on we have no spare funds available to purchase one. The Pram needs to be new due to infection risks to Ethan he is very vulnerable at them moment due to how poorly he has been, due to him being so poorly Ethan has lost the ability to walk unaided and he can only sit for small periods. So our little machine has now become a very poorly little boy and we are doing everything we can to help him xx
