Ashley's Spoleto Study Abroad July 2012
I am a senior in high school and heading off to college in the
fall. I have been accepted into the Spoleto Study Abroad
program that
takes place in Italy. This is a 22 day immersion into the Italian culture as well as
attending classes daily and living in a monastery. I am trying to raise funding
for this great learning adventure and a once in a lifetime opportunity. I
feel it would be a great experience to visit places I've only studied about
since seventh grade.
When I started this journey of applying to the program, there
was a benefactor donating the cost of the program which meant I only had to
raise money for air fare. Unfortunately, once I was accepted, I found out the
benefactor had fallen through and I need to raise the entire amount.
As most of you know, my father was in a car accident in February
2008. Due to this accident, my father has spent several years recovering
and ended up having his Talus (main ankle bone) replaced. This also
caused him to lose and close his business after 22 years. All of this has
caused our family great financial difficulties. My Mom and Dad said "This would be a great opportunity to study abroad! But, we
cannot afford to pay for it."
So this is the idea behind the web site. I am trying to
raise money for this trip. I'm trying to raise tuition and travel
expenses. I am working as much as I can to raise funds with raffles,
selling old stuff and just plain old hard work.
You can donate here on this website (fees are deducted), stop me
and offer a donation or mail me a check. Any help is and will be greatly
