'If I Should Lose You' - A Drama Short Film

Donation protected
We are a passionate group of filmmakers that want to create something that speaks of the struggles of suffering from domestic abuse. We are a team that regularly works together to make films, which means we have a successful working dynamic and strong chemistry, and we couldn't be happier. In addition, we have plenty of contacts outside the crew that will be helping us; photographers, costume designers, make-up artists etc. Thus, as a group, we are confident in making this film and knowing we have the support and guidance of industry professionals is uplifting.

All crew are working voluntarily in this production, and we are all focused on creating something meaningful that will make us feel more competent, fulfilled and proud. However, we still need help to reach our goal of producing this film, and we would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for being here. We appreciate any support you can give us.

Here is our budget chart, so you know where your money will go. Any help, no matter how big or small, will help us reach our goal.

Of course, we couldn't do this without you. That's why we would like to offer something back as a big thank you:

  • For any donation of £25 or more, you will get a Special Thanks* on the credits.
  • For any donation of £100 or more, you will be credited as an Executive Producer*.

*Make sure to add your name and surname for a Special Thanks or Executive Producer credit.

About the film:

Gritty, Crime, Romance, Tragedy.

This film portrays how victims of domestic abuse often struggle with moving on out of love for their abuser.

‘If I Should Lose You’ is about two young people, Clara and Lucio, who try and explore a special bond to break free of the crime-ridden world they live in but are held back by the domestic abuse Carla suffers from.

In a crime and poverty-ridden world, we follow Clara, a young girl full of light who starts to feel something for Lucio, a lonely painter. She begins to deny her feelings to herself to protect her relationship with Dominic, her abusive drug dealer boyfriend, who she’s in love with.

Clara finds herself battling the idea of losing Dominic, as even though she wants Dominic, she knows she needs Lucio. Her special friend is like a door to freedom, the opportunity to escape. But love is complicated. Clara represents the difficulties victims of domestic abuse who struggle not only with leaving their abuser but also the person they love most.

Clara - An old soul with a love of French art and culture yearning to escape the hopeless city she lives in and break free of her abusive relationship.

Clara is in her early 20s and lives with Dominic. She is in love with him but struggles with knowing she deserves better. Dominic's abusive behaviour holds her back from flourishing and reaching her dreams of living in Paris. Although she wishes that things would eventually change, her gut knows otherwise. When Clara develops feelings for Lucio, things get complicated. She knows that Lucio is what she needs, but Dominic is who she wants.

Dominic - Clara’s abusive boyfriend who is part of a violent group of misfits.

Dominic is in his mid 20s. He is a drug dealer and a member of a group of misfits (the Dirty Diamonds), creating problems in the town and committing various crimes. His parents were heavily absent growing up, and his grandmother raised him. In the last three years, Dominic's parents have not been in contact with him at all. For him, Clara is the best thing that has happened to him.

Lucio - A lonely painter who recently just moved into a city he doesn’t know well.
Lucio is in his early 20s. He is a foreigner who the city hasn't yet moulded. He finally feels he has found someone like him and shares a strong connection with Clara; they see the world through the same lens. Lucio is in love with Clara and knows of her situation with Dominic. Clara tries to ignore that Lucio has feelings for her, as facing her feelings could lead her to question her relationship with Dominic.

Thank you for reading all the way through. Thank you if you think of donating or sharing this campaign with others.

Risks and challenges:

Producing a film in which crime and violence play an important role can be challenging. We are requesting filming permits for the boroughs where we plan to film, and we are also contacting the Metropolitan Police to let them know about our filming. This may make us have to change our locations, which could delay our shooting days and sacrifice the areas that fit the film's aesthetic so well.

In addition, any of the crew members could not be able to come to the shoot, but, as mentioned before, we have already contacted other people in the field that would like to participate in the filming of "If I Should Lose You", so we would be covered if needed.
