ICU in Antrim Area Hospital

On Oct 4th 2023, my world fell apart with the sudden death of my wonderful husband, Richard. Richard had been feeling unwell with a sore throat and temperature, and then developed a rash. On arriving at Antrim Area Hospital on Oct 1st at 11pm, Richard was rushed into Resus with suspected sepsis. Less than 48 hours later, he was in ICU, and despite the best efforts of all the staff, Richard went into organ failure and died from Toxic Shock Syndrome at 10.30am on Oct 4th.

The care that Richard received in ICU was second to none. The consultants, doctors and nurses did everything in their power to save him, but it was not meant to be.

Apart from the attention Richard received, the care and compassion we were shown as a family in the short time Richard was in ICU was beyond what I can find words to describe. It was so obvious that the staff felt our pain.

I have set up this GoFundMe page in Richard's memory, (for his 61st birthday), to raise money for much needed resources in ICU at Antrim Area Hospital, as a very small token of our family's appreciation for everything that the staff did for Richard in his final hours, and for us, as a family, at the most traumatic time of our lives.

On Sun. 28th April, I will abseil down the Europa Hotel in Belfast. I am asking for sponsorship for this event. All money received will go to the ICU at Antrim Area Hospital.
