On 1/16/18 our very close family friends, commonly referred to as our "step family" received news, news that no family wants to hear. Tumor...then cancer
Last week their beautiful daughter, Payton Alexander, who is Ian Tweedie best friend in the world went through surgery to remove a tumor on her spine. On 1/24/18 they found out that Payton has Ewing Sarcoma cancer. She will under go Chemo Therapy and Radiation over the next several months. They are unsure when she exactly will start Chemo but for sure within the next week or two. No 15 year old should have to go through this but Payton has been strong through the surgery and we will will get over this speed bump.
Medical bills continue to grow daily, as well as things that have to be done in their home so she can get around, be comfortable and heal.
Ian Tweedie has been racing bikes since he was 5. Payton went to most of his BMX races to cheer him on, even tried a few races herself and won some trophies!. Ian started road racing at 10, and Payton came to his criterium, road, cyclocross, velodrome and mountain bike races to cheer him on. Payton became an adopted member of Ian's road team Velocause Centraal because she was at so many races and volunteered to help while she was there. Ian is getting ready for long race season. A lot or races, a lot of miles.
With Ian pounding the pedals for miles, he wants to raise money for Payton and her family. This is where you can help. You can donate a flat amount, or per mile on his road races, which will be 50 to 77 miles. Payton is strong, courageous, a fighter and will get through this. Please keep her and her amazing family in your thoughts and prayers.
