Ian and Ethan's Medical Care

Donation protected
At 24 weeks and six days, my brother and sister-in-law welcomed Ethan 1 lb 11oz 12inches and Ian 1lb 10z 12 inches. Their world was turned upside down and filled with a lot of different emotions over the course of the last 4 1/2 months. Their boys have been through a lot and as happy that we are to report they were able to be released home this week. There is a lot still on their parent's plates.  Weekly specialist visits for the boys will take over Mommies former job, so there is no option for her to go back to work. With two little ones come cost. Diapers, formula, clothing and not to mention they are caregivers to her autistic brother. Traveling back and forth across town will add to their expenses so any little bit will help.

The boy's medical journey has been tough, and though they are home, they still will have to see doctors. Here is the medical information.

Ian had PDA, PFO which all deals with the heart. Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) which deals with the intestines which resulted in surgery. Diagnosed with ROP, stage 3 zone 3 which resulted in eye laser surgery. He lost all peripheral vision. Adrenal insufficiency.  Intestinal adhesion that blocked his bowel movements which in turn caused infection. He got surgery for the adhesion by cutting out scar tissue. 3 hernias, bilateral inguinal hernias, and incisional hernia

Ethan had a single perforation of the bowel, PDA (patent ductus arterisus) nonclosure which deals with the heart. Grade 4 grade 3 bilateral intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH) which deals with the brain bleeds. Three hernias, bilateral inguinal hernias, and incisional hernia. Diagnosed with retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) stage 2 zone 2. Pulmonary stenosis. Adrenal deficiency. Chronic lung disease. Cholestasis which deals with the liver.
