I Wheelie Need A Chair
Donation protected
Hello Everyone,
I'm setting this up as a few friends want to donate to me and this seemed like the safest way. It makes me uncomfortable to set one up, but as a friend said;
"It's not my job to stop charitable people from helping me."
My Story?
I'm a dog trainer, clinical animal behaviourist and single mum. I adore i outdoors, climbing, snow boarding, swimming and most importantly taking my dogs out for hikes and camping... this was my escape when life got too much.
In 2016; this changed when I suddenly started to collapse, randomly 3-4 times a day, for weeks this continued. When i started to feel better and try walking around I'd collapse, often injuring myself in the process.
After 9 months, various doctors, medications, and a tilt table test; I was Diagnosed with Neuro-cardiogenic Syncope and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (The two go hand in hand). My brain and heart dont communicate so they work too much or not at all and I collapse. On better days i'm just tired and brain-foggy, but can go for short walks, but can't drive long distances.
I can no longer do many of the activities I use to love, after passing out on mountain snowboarding...we figured it wasn't safe to snowboard anymore. Swimming, is out unless I'm with friends that have life saving qualifications incase I fall unconscious... so that too is out. I can walk, I'm able bodied, but my brain and heart decide how long I can do it for, and often it's not for long.
If I do an activity, I have to have a 'rest day' either side and can only do one thing that day. I can function for around 6 hours on better days in a 24 hour period. As a mum that's tough, my son's often sitting on the sofa or bed with me, it's rare we get to enjoy days out.
I pay for a dog walker so my dogs, who are literally my life's passion and work, get walked. I can rarely do the walks i use to. I struggle to see as many clients as I would like, especially in person and need a team to support me.
A chair however, that would take away a lot of the worries about collapsing. It would limit my cardio output, especially a powered assist, so I could go and walk the dogs with my son in a country park like i use to do. But not all chairs are equal. Many are simply not capable of allowing independence away from concrete. Then I found Mountain Trike... I could take my dogs out, without worrying about passing out, or tipping out of a chair. I could work with clients, I could get some of that independence back; but I found out theres a steep price on independence, so that is why I created this fundraiser.
