Hydrate Frontline Heroes & Support Mom with Cancer

Donation protected
If you're looking to give back this holiday season, please share my story and mission. Because I will always want to earn my living and understand how overworked the hospitals have been, half of what we raise together will be used to make more elixirs to hydrate our heroes fighting Covid on the front line. The rest is to support my mom through her journey with cancer. Show your gratitude to our first responders by helping my small business stay alive, which will allow me to continue caring for my mother's livelihood.

Covid wiped away work for me this year since catering custom branded fresh coconuts is an experience that revolves around live events, all of which have been canceled. I started mixing up elixirs in quarantine and spent most of the summer handcrafting 1,000+ Cosmic Sunset elixirs to hydrate our essential workers at 16 hospitals between Los Angeles and Orange County.

Balling my eyes out inside one of those 16 hospitals wasn't exactly on my 2020 vision board. My mother has been diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer that grows inside the bile ducts. These slender tubes carry our digestive bile through the liver, and tumors blocking these passages will eventually lead to liver failure.

2020 has also hit her with a herniated disc, a fractured spine, severe scoliosis, osteoporosis, arthritis, Parkinson’s... they all sound like a walk in the park at this point with cancer coming in with the mic drop.

Watching the woman who gave me life deteriorating before my eyes is just eating me alive. I've also been grieving the death of someone dear to my soul, which has been a painfully complicated process. Trying to pivot during a pandemic has felt hopeless and stressful. Adding grad school to the mix has been overwhelming, but I realize how much I love learning again. It's all a lot.

Our healthcare system is in business to cut people open and slap a band-aid onto everything by pushing a plethora of pills or poison that come with a ton of other side effects. If she survives the surgery, she might still need chemo and spend the rest of her days in pain trying to recover. Unfortunately, alternative treatments are not covered and will have to come out of pocket. Real food and nutrition are not easily accessible without financial means. It's expensive to be alive and a damn luxury to maintain a healthy lifestyle. My gut tells me to explore the holistic healing approaches that will be more gentle and natural. I want to give my mom the best quality of life with her limited time remaining.

My mother’s name is Ngoc-Lan, which means Jade Orchid in Vietnamese. She is the most beautiful flower and the only one I need alive and well in my garden of life. Sending love and prayers are very much appreciated, especially if they come in the form of our basic human needs. Here are some other ways you can lend a helping hand and heart.

Please connect/introduce me to any contacts, information, resources to holistic healing approaches and alternative treatments to ease one’s life with cancer such as CBD, acupuncture, Eastern/herbal medicine, food & nutrition, etc.

If you are a business or know of a business that may be interested in becoming an official sponsor to donate elixirs with custom labels (to give thanks and promo your company with a personal touch) to our healthcare and fire-fighting frontline heroes, please send me a message.

Besides sharing this campaign, you can also share what I do for events. I am open to booking small/intimate gatherings that are taking Covid safety precautions once it's okay for us to be together again.

One of my best friends who offered to start this page for me said, “There’s a lot of stigma and hard feelings that come with asking others for help. I think that that is intentional. We’re supposed to feel like it makes us worthless. That’s why we work so hard and do anything and everything to avoid it. In reality, the resources have been allotted in such a way and through violence and exploitation. You should never feel bad for asking, especially if it’s to take care of yourself and others."

We're not meant to go through life alone.  So here I am using both my hands: one to give, one to receive. With both hands together, I'm praying for the best and preparing myself for the worst. Blessings to you and your family. Spread kindness, not Covid!

With infinite love and gratitude,
~Lily
