Carl's Medical Fund

Let me tell you a little story about an 18 month old dachsund named Carl, who came into my our life and has transformed it in a way that words cannot describe.  Carl is perhaps the most fun-loving, care giving dog I have ever known - bar none.
Recently, I noticed some behavior pattern changes in Carl and brought him to his vet.  Upon examination, and after multiple tests, it has been determined that Carl has developed what is called "Lung Lobe Torsion".  Based on the CT scan, the right lung is torse and possibly the right-middle lung as well.
All of the tests up to this point, indicate that this was either happened spontaneously or from a foreign object, but the doctors were unable to definitively rule out cancer from the CT scan.
The next recommended step at this point is to proceed with surgery to remove the dead tissue resulting from the lung lobe torsion.
To date I have covered all of the costs for his treatment from my emergency fund, which has totalled several thousand dollars at this point.  The estimated cost for the surgery is in the range of $4,000-$5,000 which I have roughly half the funds for.  I am asking for help to cover the remaining cost of the surgery so that I can do my part to give this little fighter a chance to fight for his life.  Because Carl is so young, and all of the tests indicate he is a healthy dog (besides the lung lobe torsion which today we think happened spontaneously) i.e. healthy heart, liver, kidneys etc that unless cancer is found during the surgery, we anticipate a full recovery after the dead lung tissue is removed.  Even if both the right lung and right-middle lung are removed the prognosis is a full recovery.
If you choose to assist Carl and give him a fighting chance with this surgery, the funds will be used to cover the remaining costs of the surgery and for his after care.  Anything that is raised above and beyond the cost for Carl's care will be donated to a Dachsund Rescue organization.
