Help my dad fight brain cancer

WE NEED YOUR HELP! My name is Olga, and my family & I are asking you to please help save my father yuirys life in his battle against brain cancer. Yuiry is 51 years old and is currently battling an aggressive, life-threatening brain tumor called glioblastoma (GBM). The average prognosis for a GBM patient is 13-16 months.

Prior to my dad's diagnosis, he was an overall healthy and hard working 51 year old man. Yuiry is a father of 5, and has been married to my mom, Valentina for soon to be 29 years. If you've had the pleasure of meeting yuiry then you know he is a kind hearted man. He never hesitates to offer a hand. Always putting others before himself. Everything he has done in his life including immigrating to America from Ukraine 25 years ago has been to provide a better life for his family.

Everything changed one day when my dad had a seizure at work and was rushed to the ER. When we got to the ER they suspected he was having a stroke based on his presenting symptoms including left side weakness/numbness. They did an urgent head CT.  Our world was turned upside down that moment the doctors came in with the CT  results. The head CT showed a mass in his brain. They continued with performing an urgent MRI. At this point my dad was being transferred from the ER to the ICU. We then had the on call neurosurgeon come in with the MRI results. The MRI showed a very large tumor in his brain. They performed an urgent biopsy once his vitals stabilized the following morning. The biopsy results came back as grade 4 glioblastoma (GBM).

TREATMENT PLAN:
This has been a vey difficult time for my family. The neurosurgeon who diagnosed the brain tumor initially right away told us surgery was not an option. He was confident that there would be no quality of life post surgery do to the tumor size. We ended up receiving a call from another neurosurgeon who was presented my dads case and wanted to meet with us to discuss surgery. My parents agreed to meet with this neurosurgeon for a second opinion. The neurosurgeon was confident that he could remove part of the tumor performing a craniotomy. This was a very difficult decision for my family due to the fact that we had two neurosurgeons with two completely different opinions.

With a lot of prayer and thought,  we have decided to continue with aggressive surgery followed by agressive chemo and radiation. Followed by an additional 6-12 months of chemo therapy. We know that we have a long & difficult journey ahead of us fighting my dads brain cancer.

OUR ASK:
My family is devastated by this sudden news. The emotional shock of a brain cancer diagnoses and so many uncertainties are only compounded by the financial stress. We are asking for your help to assist with impending medical and living expenses as Yuiry, do to his condition is unable to return to work as a mechanic. And my mom, Valentina is currently on leave from work to help care for Yuiry and our family.

Please take a moment to consider donating to help my family with these unplanned expenses. No gift is too small. Please help us get my dad the care that he needs. Most of all please pray for my family & the long, difficult journey we face ahead of us.

We thank you from the bottom of our Hearts. God bless you!
